the art of disneyland

the art of photography is something i wanna master, and perhaps, have yet to do so.
i visited melody's blog yesterday, and read her post on her recent disneyland visit
which included vivid pictures of the famous fireworks display at mickey's castle. (or was it cinderella?)

and i was amazed.
this was one of her shots of the fireworks:



whereas for my shot during my delighted visit, disneyland looked as if..
1) it was on fire

2) a science experiment in the castle exploded


OR

3) there was an incoming tsunami


(aka: a disaster)

i could always blame it on the camera for giving me additional (unwanted) special effects for my shots
or, i could just sign up for photography classes right now.

guesswat! i finally got the johnrutter CD that i've wanted for a verryy long time ((:

comfortably shipped in by dearly beloved Amazon.com, and also its buyer the boyfriend ((:

most of the pieces in the CD are based on choral pieces, folk songs and hymns - all my favorites.

andandand, it also feature suite for strings haha. a much more pro version of what we slaughtered at SYF, kronos, and our various open house performances respectively.
i never knew classical music could make me so delighted (:

ECP today aftn saw two tetesterone-charged vehicles (one mark-x, one altis) cruising at high speeds to east coast park for lunch after church
because the riders were soo hungry
i saw my, again, dearly beloved breakwater number 7. hahaha.
i promise you, one day, i'll sit on you and watch sunrise like i've promised 3 years ago haha

meine Deutsche ist nicht gut

today i had my personal chauffer come pick me up in a nice black cifero car after german class

there you are..
too bad you're not long enough to floor the accelerator and look where you're going all at one time. we would have had a glorious time shanghai-ing the car..

so after german class today, i decided that my german was appallingly and frightfully bad
(or any other superlative worse than what ive described)
that juliet and i have decided to start speaking to each other in Deutsch from now on
any suggestions at how to rescue this seemingly unrescueable state of mine is graciously welcomed
i have about 4 months more to pick up german enough for me to live and survive in the country for 3 whole weeks with a german host family, and about less than 3 months for me to memorize vocabs and grammar enough for me to pass my LAG2201 module finals.

always beautiful

pink roses. symbols of grace and elegance. to convey admiration, appreciation, and joyfulness ((:
(i ripped that off the internet btw)
but im a happy gurl ((:

dinner was at La Zesto, where they were serving one-for-one for their three course meals.
they pretty much marketed themselves upon caricatural images of fine dining and good food
(although that came in rather small portions even i could finish all of it)
but overall the ambience was pretty nice and dark and cozy, and i have no qualms about returning ((:

i cant get my mind off pan's labyrinth. the cinematography blew my mind.
so did the story, although the plot only came to light wayy after the show.
its rly beautiful how the story intertwined reality and imagination, but the story was so dark and heavy that i feel like im still stuck in the story even now.
so much emotions and feelings were drawn that i cant seem to retract all of them and just clip them close together with the ending of the show.
its one of those movies where you exit, and still feel the tremendous poundings of your heart, and you still think of the scenes even after you get home.

mountain of god

ernest, aaron, isaac and mac came over for badminton and swimming exercise today ((:
(infact, they just left)
i feel like i havent worked out in about 135866243 years. my stamina's low, my strength's low, my score's low, but not my spirits ((:
because.. we had my mom's homemade spagetti carbonara by the pool, basking in the cool moonlit night straight after swimming
im telling you.. it was heavenly.
after so much exercise, the appetite we worked up was so huge that 4 guys 1 girl finished one whole tub of carbonara, and was left wanting for more food
or at least, the guys were.

on a less optimistic tone, i seem to be undoing whatever great effort i have put in to lose some calories, because now im doing the PPP (pods popping problem) again
it doesnt help that i've just received 2 new boxes of pods from evynn ((: (whom i swear wants me fat cuz he keeps buying me goodies)

anyway. yesterday i went to mac's place with the full intention of studying.
but in the end, when i got there, and opened my book, i realized i knew almost 80% of the readings i was supposed to do because it was just JC stuff.
so, we ended up just chilling, and went to SAFRA yishun to play bowling ((:
and omgg the rock walls there looks pretty delicious i cant wait to get my hands and legs on them

school for scoundrels is really about scoundrels - men.
but it turned out to be a rather funny show, and the main lead guy can look kinda cute when he dresses up and closes his mouth once in a while
that being said, he looks like a dope the other 70% of the time

what was intended to be a night out at the beach was replaced by a spectacular night of star-gazing

there was an amazing count of stars in the sky yesterday night, given the amount of air and light pollution

its nights like these where you can talk till the depths of midnight, and still feel like you wanna talk some more

words seem to come easier under the moonlight and stars, encouraged only by the cool night breeze that seem to whisper "i love you"

it was nice (:

anyhow. project "laptop bag" has officially been completed ((:

ive had itchy fingers ever since i finished sewing mac's christmas cushion

so since my teeny laptop doesnt seem to have a laptop case made for its dimensions i decided on making on myself.

maybe i'll put up a picture or two for those who have requested it haha.

i finally found someone who suffers the same fate as me
although he is still one day younger than me.
the food was pretty good! although the portions were pretty small for its price.
but i was too happy wit myself for driving to millennia walk without actually knowing where it was to bother bout the portion
hehe~ and then i accomplished feat #2 by driving to yacht club to pick my parents up.

20th birthday

this 20th birthday was a blast ((: it was one of my nicer birthdays that i can remember.
a cozy occassion, celebrated with the people who mean a lot to me.
this birthday was pretty special. it consisted of a pre-birthday, the birthday itself, and then a post-birthday celebration hahaha.

pre-birthday
pre-birthday was spent with the alcohallics!! ((:
we went to settlers for 4 hours of games, food, and fun. taboo was taken to a whole new level that day hehehe.
and then kevin teo and michelle came together with mac after work, and plan A of having a quiet dinner to countdown to the birthday was replaced with plan B of laughing at each other and killing zombies with dices when we decided to play more board games till late. hahaha.
we counted down at walawala & breko ((: pretty tann.
i would say it was a rather perfect night minus the heavy rain which refuses to dry up.

birthday plans itself were pretty jumbled due to the unexpected downpour which lasted 24 hours gah.
so mac came over to my crib for some movies, hot chocolate, and donuts.
and then it was steamboat seafood buffet @ copthorne orchid with the family.

(tho the movie fur pretty much sucked)

today was trigger happy day with the alcohallics ((:
a failed bidding process rendered the four of us successfully free on waffles tuesday
which was more than a reason sufficient to go.. shopping!!
although theres no direct link there heehee.

there were many successful and failed attempts at capturing the abstract, and hence i shall feature my favorite one of them all - huishi and her ghost.


and then there were attempts at capturing the un-posed human expression, which ended up with a variety of expressions, ranging from love-lorn and candy-begging expressions..


to the i'm-bored, the i'm-lost, and the i'm-thirsty expressions..

back to school

the start of school today was pretty slack. since there was no tutorials nor were there german classes
i went to school at 2pm, and my classes ended at 4pm, and that was about it for the day
i like it that way ((:

im quite happy with this semester. im doing pretty interesting modules with my favorite-st people (:
time to pull up my measely cap score, and maybe my cca life

anyway today my mom got lost while coming to pick me up from school
i was in central library when she called me:

mom: hey joy im lost.
me: where're you?
mom: well.. i see aluminium house next to me right now, and on my right theres cheese
me: HUHH?!

dinner at BK and lunch at the foodcourt - idk not i pay

time spent and happiness derived from the experience with you - priceless ((:

there are 4 shows that i can watch over and over (and over) again and not get sick of it at all

just for the record, i've watched princess diaries (one, two sucked) 4 times and counting
and as for the other 3 shows - pirates&thecaribbean (9), cinderella story (5), and the prince&me (4)
all tentative figures ((:

today we had our new year's gathering @ marc&megan's place, and we spammed movies
which was how i realized that marc watched a LOT of tv, because he knew exactly which scenes of his LASER DISCS had sexual or violence scenes
and then he conveniently fast forwards to those scenes.

princess diaries came to the rescue soon after.

a long drive home, and a long nice talk.
a nice start to a whole new year, if i may say so myself ((:

well, heres a customary post to usher in 2007, so to everyone.. HAPPY NEW YEAR!! ((:

the last few weeks of 2006 have been busy and tremendously fun

getting to try many new things, know many more people, get in touch with my inner self, and just having lots and lots of fun

from bowling and kayaking with the whole camp (to paddling away furiously trying to escape the 4 kayaks which were trying to capsize us), to watching movies together with so many friends, to midnight movie adventures that involved speeding frm vivocity to marina square to catch our late movie, to stayovers, to the midnight cruises, to the countdown with the people who i've been counting down with for as long as i can remember

all these, plus all the great times i've had in this year, is what i'll remember when i look back upon 2006

with that said, heres to an even better and more blessed 2007 year ahead! ((:
